~ This week, my friend Patricia and I partnered with TradeWinds Resorts to share our stay and experience at the RumFish Resort in St.Pete’s Beach, FL! We had a blast soaking up the sun and relaxing. We had a quick trip – just two nights and one full day, and so we chose to mainly stay at the resort and fully embrace all that they had to offer!
The cool thing about the TradeWinds properties is their proximity to each other and the ability to use both resorts when staying at one. The RumFish is a short 5 minute beach walk away from the Island Grand, which is a bit bigger. I think both resorts are really wonderful for young families – both have fun activities for kids throughout the day (*the crafts even sounded fun to me!) as well as specified pools for adults only and for kids/families. The bigger Island Grand even has an impressive giant water slide on the beach! In the evenings at RumFish, there is something for everyone; there are fire pits, live music, and the beach bar for adults, while the pool remains open late and a separate fire pit has s’mores for the kids. Also, the rooms have a little kitchen – which I know is very helpful to families traveling with young kids.
The entire stay, we kept remarking at how incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind the staff were! From Mike at the front desk to Mimi in the Gulfside Grill – everyone truly goes above and beyond for each guest. I always say it, but it’s really true for each special location – the people make the place!
The location can’t be beat – it was a very easy 30-minute drive from the Tampa Airport. Also, the beach is literally right there! My room was beach front and I loved being able to enjoy the view from my balcony. There are cabanas right on the beach with 2 chairs in each and the resort provides beach towels.
There are 3 restaurants right on the RumFish property and we had the opportunity to dine at the RumFish Grill (the biggest restaurant on property) and the Gulfside Grill (located right next to the pool and beach!). The RumFish Grill was such an experience – it’s like eating in a very pretty aquarium. The tank there was featured on the show “Tanked” on Animal Planet and spans the length of the restaurant and you can even walk through a hallway where it is above your head! I had an amazing grilled shrimp appetizer and scallops for dinner. The Gulfside Grill truly blew me away! First of all, Mimi is the best (tell her we sent you!). Second of all, each meal was incredible and their entire menu was very gluten-free friendly. My favorite meals of the trip were at Gulfside!
If you and your family are looking for an easy getaway from anywhere in the Northeast, I think RumFish is perfect. Tampa is such an easy airport to fly into and RumFish is just a 30-minute drive from there! I don’t know about you, but I can definitely use all the sunshine I can get in the winter months and I can’t think of a better/easier escape!
