~ I know so many of you are, like me, Lilly girls! I don’t know about you all, but the MOMENT that fall approaches, my instagram feed immediately changes to a sea of olive greens and browns….and…BORING!
Lilly CAN be worn into fall, even if you live in a city like NY! It’s all about the pieces and how you layer, mix-and-match, and style them. When I was interning for Lilly a million lightyears ago, I had to organize some old binders that Pat (the SWEETEST woman who was the assistant and go-to person for the CEO and President at the time) had meticulously kept. She had kept EVERY handwritten letter that Lilly had written to the guys. One of the letters was short and sweet… “Fall is fun and fun is color! Tell them to buy loads of Lilly for fall!” (or something very close to that). DO NOT ask me why certain things like this are permanently tattooed in my memory, but that’s always stuck with me! Fall IS fun and fun = color. We can do SO much better than olive green and brown! *as a side note…Pat also was sweet enough to send me the NICEST handwritten cards throughout my following 2 years of college and I saved every single one of them…which I found in the recent move <3
Above are 2 awesome fall Lilly looks and below I’ve rounded up some fun ideas for what to style with Lilly for fall as well as some great Lilly fall pieces (click over to the blog to see if you are in your e-mail!).
I really love this fun skirt for fall from Lilly. The parrot print is SO good and the navy really grounds the print a bit, making it a perfect piece to style with your fall wardrobe. On a colder day, I would probably pair this same look with riding boots and a navy blazer with the sleeves rolled. Also, I picked up a couple more Elsa tops from the sale and LOVE them for work AND going out. They are great tucked into high waisted jeans! *One thing to note…they are a little sheer and I prefer to wear mine with a nude bodysuit underneath!
This navy wrap romper is SO awesome! I wore it the Friday of my birthday week out in NYC and it was perfect with a jean jacket. It’s also stretchy and flattering on so many shapes. The lace is cotton and sheer enough to be worn in the summer (sometimes it’s nice to have sleeves), but it’s also a great transitional piece for those “in-between” seasons and of course, layer it up for fall!
Here are a few items PERFECT for making LILLY and COLOR work this season…are you with me?! I wrote notes for you below each item!
Thank you so much for following along this fall! I’m about to take my first official vacation in a long time – going to the Bahamas with my mama! I’m half way there as I write this and can’t wait to bring you all along with me!
Gratefully with love,
