~ Rockin’ my amazing new Sundress on the beach in Mexico in this post! BIG shout out to the sweet team at Sundress for rushing this dress and making sure I had it on time for my trip (packages from France ARE more fun to open, BTW). IT’S MY NEW FAVORITE DRESS!!! It has everything good: big bell sleeves, so much movement, a BOW, colorful beads and tassels, and you know how I love white with a tan! I’m also quite in love with my Turqs and Caicos Bangle from my good friend Chelsey’s company, Mercer and Spring. I love how the turquoise just POPS! You can wear it alone (because it’s that good) or it also looks great in a pretty arm candy stack with other gold bangles!
Mexico vacay update: It was so fun and I really needed to get away! The beach was BEAUTIFUL (I could walk up and down to each point and not see anyone else!), the people were so kind, and the margaritas were yummy. My mom does a big girls trip every year with the women who are special to her, and this was the first time I got to go! I’m someone who usually has trouble sitting still…so being able to actually just relax and do nothing was incredibly nice. Oh, also, I guess I should tell you a little bit about the baby turtles (above)! The two summers that I lived on a boat in the BVI’s, I was trained to turtle tag, but never got to see any actual sea turtle babies. In Mexico, there were a few nests hatching on the beach and a local conservancy was helping to dig them up and safely release them! It was MAGICAL to see these little babies before they were released into the ocean!
So, instead of taking up all of your time with each and every detail of my trip, I’ve decided to do something new here on Wear Bows and Smile. Growing up and going to FOCUS camp on the Vineyard each summer, we used to do “Highs and Lows” each night in cabin meeting (and they still do!). Now, my best friends from FOCUS and I still do “Highs and Lows” after each weekend ski trip or each weekend away (and we make everyone else do them, too). For each trip I post about on here, I’m going to give “Highs and Lows.” Why include the lows? Because nothing is perfect and the lows keep it honest! So here we go, here are my Mexico highs: spending quality time with my sister-in-law, the smoothie hut with the swings as chairs, the mojitos, the margaritas, zumba on the beach with strangers, the wedding that we got to watch on the beach, the BABY TURTLES, wearing summer clothes, reading, getting tan, swimming in the ocean, taking long walks every day! Mexico lows: when my cousin got sick, Hurricane Patricia hitting the other coast and all of the worry around it (thank goodness everyone is ok), the rain showers, the 4 hours of intense turbulence flying home. That’s it!
I have even more wanderlust than I did before (if that’s possible)! I am seriously dying to explore more of this beautiful world! “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” ~ Susan Sontag
