Taylor Swift “Lover” Themed Birthday Party!

UPDATE (9/10/23): This is my most frequently visited post to date (yay!)! First of all, welcome, if you’re new here. How lucky am I that Taylor brought us together?! I just updated the post in order to update links and answer some frequent questions. Be sure to follow along with the fun on instagram! 

~ MY PARTY LOOK: It’s been a few years since this party 😉 There’s nothing that I love more than sequin party looks! Here are some below similar to what I wore:

~ THE THEME ~ 

~ For my second annual 29th birthday, I wanted something over the top and FUN! Initially I had been thinking a multicolor/ glitter color pattern with lots of unicorns (*no one was surprised). But THEN I thought…WAIT…the “Lover” Album by Taylor Swift IS exactly that and so much more! While the album was being promoted before it’s release, I remember thinking “this is actually everything I love in life.” CATS, glitter, SEQUINS, pastel colors, PINK, sweets, unicorns, butterflies, flowers…AH! 

OF COURSE my party had to be “Lover” themed! 

~ THE DECOR ~ 

~ The decor was really fun for me to think about and put together! I really wanted each little detail to reflect all of Taylor’s instagram previews of the album (*yes, that is a real sentence I just typed). Before the album launched, Taylor had a few photo worthy wall murals put up in Nashville, one of them being an amazing set of butterfly wings. I mentioned the idea to a colleague who TOTALLY went above and beyond to work photoshop magic at lunch one day (thank you, Troy!). I asked the studio that we work with (who also does printing) if it would be possible to get a quote to print the giant wings…and they gave me the best birthday present ever (I am forever so grateful)!!! The wings were such a dream come true!

I really wanted whimsical florals to go along with the theme and I am so thankful to Kelli from Blissful Blooms Florals for creating the most wonderful arrangements that added such a beautiful touch! Take a peek at the photos above and definitely keep her in mind if you live in the Columbus area! 

Across the ceiling of my living room, I hung pink tissue 3-D clover garland and disco balls! 

I hid my TV and used the wall for a colorful birthday banner. I made my own tassel garland (*it’s easy!) and topped it off with “Forever 29” balloons! 

I LOVE swag in all forms, and I wanted to make sure I had enough fun things for my guests to get excited! I had face rhinestones, heart sunglasses, hair chalk, and FLASH TATS for everyone to accessorize with and I think everyone had a blast with them!  

~ THE FOOD AND DRINKS ~ 

~ To start with, the most special, wonderful and exciting edible at the party was 100% the “Lover” cookies provided by Bumbles Bake Shop! They did SUCH an amazing job re-creating the EXACT “Lover” Cookies from Taylor Swift’s instagram! I think the sugar cookies they created were actually much cuter! See above! And 100% DEFINITELY use them if you live in the area! 

Besides the cookies, I filled bowls of colorful candy and marshmallows, made this unreal confetti cake unicorn dip, and put together a charcuterie board. I also had a few other dips to fill everyone’s stomachs! 

For drinks, I filled a colorful tin tub with ice, beers, and seltzer. I made my signature champagne popsicle drinks (*it is what it sounds like! Champagne with a popsicle face down) as well as rose sangria. I definitely used more St.Germain and mint than the recipe called for, but it did NOT disappoint and was SO good! 

After the party, we all went out and danced at a country bar with live music who had an awesome band in town. It was seriously my FAVORITE themed party ever and I’m forever grateful to my friends and co-workers who made it such a dream come true!
