Let’s turn lemons into limoncello, shall we?
~ the QUARANTINE BUCKET LIST ~
BAKE! ~ I may or may not be turning into the blonde Ina Garten during this quarantine. I’ve been baking up a storm! (*Hence many of the more active items on this list, haha). My friend Agathe has an AMAZING company that’s like Blue Apron except for BAKING! I know! It’s called Red Velvet and I’m a huge fan! It’s just the right amount of flour/decorations/etc. that you need to make one of her crazy yummy desserts. They ship nationally! Did I mention they have gluten free options?! Definitely head on over and support a female owned business!
TRY A NEW WORKOUT ~ Ok, I’m the first to admit that I tend to stick with what I know, what works, and what’s comfortable. However, I ALSO know real results happen when you switch it up! SO many different workout Apps are free for the time being because of what is going on. The Nike Training App streams classes and has workout tips from trainers. It’s usually subscription based but it’s currently free!
TAKE A FREE PAINTING CLASS ~ One of my VERY favorite accounts to follow on instagram, @Britandco recently announced that ALL of their classes online will be free until April 1st! I’ve been wanting to take so many of them! They have classes on calligraphy, social media strategy, watercolor painting, etc. If you are a creative, you MUST check them out!
MASTER A NEW RECIPE ~ I’ve been cooking at home a LOT as I’m sure most of you are! While I would love to support local restaurants every day, I know that’s unfortunately not the most budget friendly. I tend to turn to Pinterest in times like these for new ideas and new recipes. Recent favorites have included: this Classic Lasagna, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and Slow Cooker Butternut Squash Risotto.
RELAX AND SLEEP WELL ~ Let’s be real: it’s a crazy and stressful time in the world. It just IS! In my opinion, any kind of stress relieving tool or activity is 10X as important to do now. There are truly some great resources out there, and one of my favorites is offering a collection of freebies during this time. The Calm App is amazing...it has so many helpful techniques and sounds for falling asleep as well as daily meditations and even bedtime stories (*you have to just trust me…who wouldn’t want to listen to Matthew McConaughey read you something soothing?).
PLAY GAMES ~ Just because life seems…well…a lot less exciting and adventurous right now, doesn’t mean that we can’t still have some fun. I’ve been having fun doing puzzles and playing games! It’s almost like I forgot that these things existed in the business of everyday life. Which games are you loving right now?
TAKE A FREE YOGA CLASS ~ My very FAVORITE App is offering all aspects of the app for FREE right now. I’ve been using this App since I was in grad school in Milan and it’s still my favorite for the best guided classes. It’s called Down Dog Yoga, and there are a few things that distinguish it from other apps. First, you can choose how long you want your practice to be! Second, you can choose your level AND you can choose the kind of yoga you’d like to do. When I need a sweat, I set it to “quick flow”!
ORGANIZE EVERYTHING ~ Been wanting to clean out your closet or junk drawer? Now is the time! We can all improve our organizational habits and Emily Ley’s “A Simplified Life” offers practical tips for ALL aspects of your life (including finances and technology!). I love that it’s done in a workbook style, even though it’s pretty enough to be a coffee table book! It’s also on sale for only $8 on Amazon right now! That’s a STEAL!
~ On a separate note, I know this is a hard time for so many. There are a million stresses and anxieties that have come along with this pandemic. On the cusp of a big transition personally, I have my own fears too. It’s difficult at times to not let fear get in our way, isn’t it? I’m hoping that this blog continues to be a place that lifts your chin up when you need it and brings a smile here and there! Sending you SO much love wherever you are at the moment.
