~ Now that the whirlwind wedding planning is done (*for those that missed it – we had to re-plan our entire wedding in under 2 months!) – I am ELATED to share some of the fun adventures that happened beforehand. The weekend after we lost our first venue, I had a girls trip planned with my dear friend, Patricia to the Delamar in West Hartford. Truly this weekend away was SUCH a blessing! One of the biggest joys during my 8 years of blogging has been all of the hospitality partnerships that have hopefully inspired you to book your next trip. This trip was one of my very favorites for so many reasons, and it’s with a lot of peace, joy, and excitement that I sit down to share this with you!
First, I want to start by saying that the Delamar in Greenwich, CT is where SO many wonderful memories of mine were made in my 20’s. My first job after college was with Vineyard Vines HQ and I enjoyed many happy hours there on the water. Even though I had enjoyed the picturesque location and loved the food and cocktails there, I had never had the chance to stay at one of the Delamar Hotels before, and was so excited to have the opportunity to experience them first hand.
So many of you are driving distance from both the Delamar in Greenwich and the Delamar in West Hartford, so let me preface this post by saying that ABSOLUTELY you must book a summer getaway to one of these locations!
The Delamar in West Hartford is their newer location which opened in 2017 and is absolutely STUNNING! I couldn’t get over how impeccably decorated each and every corner was. We had so much fun capturing our looks on this breathtaking property! West Hartford is conveniently located between Boston and NYC – making it the perfect meeting spot for business or for a fun weekend with friends. The Delamar is perfectly situated near some of the best restaurants and shops in town and they have a free shuttle that will bring you anywhere within a few miles of the hotel. However – I do have to say that their own restaurant, Artisan, located inside the hotel was SUCH a wonderful experience that there isn’t much of a need to leave to go to another restaurant 🙂
Artisan had such a creative and unique menu with seasonal specialties that we loved. Patricia and I always love trying new cocktails (*and their cocktail menu was amazing), but we also really appreciated the elevated wine list the restaurant offered! Patricia is quite the wine aficionado and we enjoyed sharing a bottle while editing photos on our second night!
After dinner, I was really looking forward to some relaxing time in the room. Where do I even start with these beautiful rooms? First, my room was the most cozy I’ve ever stayed in – and I travel pretty often. The bed was hands-down the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in! When it comes to travel, I’m a firm believer that the bathroom makes the room and I will never get over how beautiful the showers and vanity were. It truly felt like a mini spa in your own room.
And speaking of Spa experiences…still to this date I think the massage and facial that I had the pleasure of enjoying at the Delamar’s Spa were the best I’ve ever had. As brides-to-be, Patricia and I were very much interested in getting that special “glow” that only a great facial can provide and I truly think I would be a regular if the Delamar West Hartford was closer! They top of the line products and cutting edge treatments from Biologique Recherche and Valmont – I had heard about both and it was truly an incredible experience to experience these products and treatments first hand.
In the mornings, Patricia and I both had a bit of work to do, but we did so in the absolutely coziest spot near the fire inside Artisan, while we enjoyed one of the best complimentary breakfasts I think I’ve ever had. There were so many wonderful gluten-free options for me as well, which I always really take note of and appreciate!
Lastly, I’m a big believer that the people make the place and we absolutely adored the staff. They were so incredibly warm and friendly and made us immediately feel so at home!
I can’t wait to visit again with Matt – I have so many friends in that area and we’ve been talking about all of the trips we want to take on Matt’s first summer on the East Coast! The Delamar West Hartford is absolutely on the top of the list!
Thanks for traveling with us on this adventure!
Gratefully with love,
