OK SO I am not sure if you’ve looked at the weather for this weekend yet…but…YIKES! Pretty much everywhere on the East Coast looks like rain. I had such cute dresses and looks planned for Nantucket…but I had to come up with a new plan once I saw the weather. HAVE NO FEAR. I HAVE A STRATEGY for what to pack for a rainy Memorial Day Weekend!
Above are the 20 best things that will save you and still keep you looking cute put together during this upcoming rainy weekend. These are variations of or the exact pieces that I am packing right as we speak. First things first: this rain jacket saved my life when hiking the Dolomites (temp dropped from 60’s to 30’s with hail…). It’s light weight but also very waterproof and will shield you from the wind. I’m also packing my favorite hat (because #humidity) and my flat espadrilles. I was pretty excited to find these Hunter slide-ons, which are so cute and neutral and WATER PROOF! I’m always looking for more wearable alternatives to wellies. Anticipating that I will perhaps be getting my feet dirty (bike riding/ beaching/ late night dancing/ muddy streets)…I’m packing these cheap yet perfectly adorable sandals (under 20!). They are also INCREDIBLY comfortable and easy to wash (I’ve already worn them in inclement weather!).
Let’s get to the good stuff: GOING OUT/ DINNERS OUT. This is where I was super bummed. I wanted to wear my new ivory dress that I styled for Saks Off 5th and then CAVED and bought (also breaking my own golden rule to never purchase what I style for e-comm, thus opening a whole new can of worms). UNFORTUNATELY, if it’s as windy, rainy, and chilly as the forecast suggests, I had to come up with a new plan. Here’s what I’m doing: I’m packing my favorite white jeans, a few cute tops, a dress for “just-in-case” it warms up, and my Lilly jumpsuit! That way, I still have cute but warm options.
I also am throwing in my go-to Bean Boot shorties (my favorite for warm weather rain storms), a cozy sweater, my Lilly cashmere poncho (which doubles as a scarf and wrap), and a pair of white statement earrings to wear with everything! I like to keep everything within the same color palette (ex. navy vs. black, same hues and color stories). This way, I know that all of my accessories and shoes are interchangeable with my looks.
Where are you heading this weekend? My fingers are crossed that wherever you are, the sun peeks out! If you are looking at a rainy weekend ahead, I really hope this helps you too! My theory? When there’s rain…you just gotta bring extra sunshine!
Gratefully with love,
