~ Guys…this was the romper of the summer. Into cabs, out of cabs, shoes off, onto boats, dancing, cocktails, concerts, “does anyone know where I put my wedges?”….yeah, it was that kind of romper. You see, I’ve ALWAYS been a big fan of rompers, but now I’ve grown into mega fan. They have the ease of grabbing your favorite summer dress that somehow works for day parties and for going out/date nights, and yet, they have the assurance of wearing shorts and a tee (“let’s dance on THAT bench!”). Being only 5’2, rompers really work with my short height! This blue romper is one of my favorites and I’ll be carrying it into the fall. Luckily, it’s still available! And these heels might be miracle heels. Tory Burch is an angel. These heels have somehow survived an intense summer internship on my feet at O Magazine…plus 5 summers after that (please last forever!). And side note confession: I went to link these heels to her website and found myself watching the entire SS16 Fashion Week show for the THIRD time. I could write an entire paper on the shows this week, but let me just leave you with this: Tory Burch’s SS16 collection feels like an early 70’s housewife who is about to embark on the best vacation of her life hopping around the Greek Isles (and she’s got a spark of gypsy in her soul)…and she’s brought her 5 closest friends and I’m dreaming that I’m one of them.
So tonight, I had the plan of being incredibly responsible and coming home immediately after my House Committee meeting at the club and working on the blog, cleaning, picking out my outfit for the Hill School Greenwich Reception tomorrow evening, etc., etc…..But, I did none of those things. Indian Harbor Yacht Club (aka my forever happy place) has the wonderful habit of doing that…making a one hour commitment into a magical evening. Every. Single. Time. Without fail! But tonight was a perfect late summer night, from the sunset to the dinner with friends, to the always AMAZING stories, to the one glass of rose too many. I’m incredibly blessed to be a part of this special community. My good friend, Lynne, pointed out that we should all continue to wear our white pants and celebrate summer because the Summer Solstice isn’t until the 21st. YES!!! As you could probably tell from my interview with her, I look up to Lynne a lot, and so, I think we should all continue to stay in our summer mindset until the 21st (who cares if the leaves are starting to change up here…SHHH). She looked impeccable in her white pants and chambray popover, so I’ll probably wear white pants tomorrow, too…CHEERS TO SUMMER!
Gratefully with love (and endless summer kinda happiness),
